Things to Do

Scotts Valley offers a variety of outdoor recreational opportunities, thanks to its picturesque surroundings and close proximity to both the Santa Cruz Mountains and the coastline. Skypark is a popular destination for families, featuring a playground, soccer fields, a dog park, and even a skate park. The park is also home to numerous community events, such as the annual Art, Wine, and Beer Festival, and outdoor movie nights during the summer months.

 

Henry Cowell Redwoods State Park, just a short drive away, offers miles of hiking, biking, and horseback riding trails amidst towering redwood trees. Be sure to stop by the park's visitor center to learn about the area's natural history and wildlife and explore the several hidden swimming holes along the San Lorenzo River such as the Garden of Eden. For the kids (and grownups alike), nearby Roaring Camp Railroads is a wonderfully fun place to spend the day.

 

The nearby Santa Cruz Mountains offer a variety of picturesque but unassuming local wineries, such as Byington Vineyard & Winery, Burrell School Winery, and MJA Vineyards. There are also some great wine tasting rooms in Scotts Valley proper! 

 

If you're craving a day at the beach, Santa Cruz beaches are just a short 10 minute drive away. Discover the iconic Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, or explore the sparkling coastline, with its sandy beaches and world-class surf spots. Alternatively, venture north to Davenport or Half Moon Bay for a more laid-back coastal experience. Whatever activity you're looking for, Scotts Valley is centrally located for all that Santa Cruz County has to offer, while remaining a convenient commute location for those working "over the hill" in San Jose and Santa Clara.
